MOHAWK was founded in 2006 and has been owned and operated by me, Michael Caligiuri, continuously since then.
My parents, Erik and Debbie Skidmore, formed American Hauling and Home Improvement in 1992. They operated until I took over in 2007.
Around the same time, I took over my cousin Richard Jackman's company, B&R Hauling.

In 2018, I purchased East Side Suburban Trash from retiring longtime garbageman Tom.
All of these former companies' customers combined with my own form MOHAWK REFUSE.

At the time of founding my company, I was sporting a mohawk hairdo, so that's the most simple explanation, but it was more involved at the time.
I wanted to give a shout-out to the the punk rock subculture - I was never a punker but I appreciate the live in the moment, freedom at all costs mentality.

Additionally, I was giving a nod to my Native American ancestry (not a big percentage, but a big influence) as this was a hairstyle worn by warriors of some Iroquois Confederacy tribes.

My name is MIchael Caligiuri.
I am a local Jackson resident that graduated from Lumen Christi, class of 2001. I received my AA from Jackson Community College in 2008 and my BA from Albion College in 2010.
I have lived and worked in Jackson for most of my life and I take pride in the continued service of my local community.
